David...So, you buy this already premixed...not granules like HHG?
I'm not David, but yes, it is sold in liquid form.

Does FG squeezeout 'gel' like HHG does? With HHG after several minutes the squeezeout will just peel off cleanly like a string, or just roll off with a fingertip or sharp stick. I like the way HHG cleans up.

No it doesn't. That is certainly one of the beauties of hide glue that fish glue
does not share. Fish glue still cleans up well with water, but not nearly as
easily as gelled hide glue.

Though I still want to try setting fire to the back after using hide glue to soften it before clamping.

??? Care to elaborate?
Lillian, it's an old Spanish method we've discussed here before, whereby you fit the back braces to the sides then apply hide glue to the braces and rims, fit the back and then wipe alcohol over the part of the back over the rims and braces. Set fire to the alcohol, the heat softens the glue through the back, clamp up and your done!

I'm just plucking up the courage to try it. The photos would be spectacular!

Colin
Colin, if you do ever find the courage I would love to be a part of the audience. Photos would be nice, but video would be brilliant.

I used fish glue on the tentellones (or Dentellones, whatever) of a classical I am currently building. It is quite eassy to work with and cleans up easily with water. It has a slight but non-unpleasant odor that goes away when it dries. I like it so far - at least for tentellones. I bought a half liter squeeze bottle from conservationresources.com for about 17 bucks or so.   Should be enough to glue up the tentellones on 15 or 20 guitars!

If I can figure out how to post pictures I will post a shot of how the material and squeeze out looks.
